Brian Groom is a local and offshore investment specialist.
He established Groom Investment Consulting cc in February 1999 when he left Syfrets Private Bank where he had been the International Consultant for the Southern region for four years.

Brian received a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Stellenbosch, majoring in Economics, Business Economics and Industrial Psychology. He then received an Advanced Diploma in International Tax and Offshore Financial Centres from RAU/IAS.

He spent four years at Old Mutual where he subsequently became Production Manager of Old Mutual Unit Trusts responsible for business in the Boland region of the Western Cape. Thereafter he and his wife Margie spent 1990 touring the UK & Europe. On their return, Brian spent four years as broker consultant at Liberty Life in Cape Town. In March 1995 Brian left Liberty to take up the position of International Consultant at Syfrets Private Bank.

Wayne Hill

Wayne matriculated at OBHS and after a stint overseas, entered the Life Industry with Metlife (quite by accident!) After a number of years learning the ropes and moving up the ranks, he decided to move into the marketing/sales area of the industry which he enjoyed immensely and after 2 years with Liberty Life, felt he was ready to join Intasure, an independent short & long term "family-owned" brokerage, with a view to developing and building the financial planning and investment areas of the business. This worked very well and then in 1990, he and his business partner bought out the family brokerage and "haven't looked back since". Intasure Financial Planners (IFP) specialise in holistic Financial Planning and Wealth Creation, including Estate and Retirement planning. The business has grown significantly in recent times as has our team of advisors and personal assistants. Amongst the many service providers that IFP partners with, acsis and Allan Gray feature prominently.

Wayne is married to Jennie with whom they enjoy a wonderful & close relationship with their 4 kids. Wayne enjoys golf, travel and relaxing with friends.

Margie Groom is responsible for finance and administration.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cape Town, majoring in English and Psychology. Margie then went on to do a Higher Diploma in Education (Post-Graduate) for Primary Education, also at the University of Cape Town.

After a short teaching career, Margie did a Post-graduate Secretarial Certificate at the Cape Technikon, whereafter she spent three years in the Corporate Executive Services division at the Old Mutual. She was appointed as office manager at MAST before resigning to spend a year overseas. Upon her return, she joined The Leisure Corporation where she worked as PA to the managing director for seven years before resigning to have her second child.

John Van Der Merwe

John matriculated from Paarl Boys High in 1998, after which he studied Marketing and Management at Cape Tech. While working in the IT Industry he was drawn to Sales, and soon progressed to Financial Services joining Liberty Life as an Agent in 2005. In 2009 he left the Agency Force as a qualified financial services practitioner to join an Independent Brokerage where he formed part of a Para Planning and Broking team. In 2010 he joined Intasure and has found his home as a part of the Financial Planning team. He specializes in Long Term Insurance, Retirement Planning and Medium to Long Term Investment Planning. He is married to Crecilda who is a Filming and Events Environmental Officer¸ and they have a young son named Josias. He enjoys hiking, running, surfing and spending time with his family and friends.
